From Sticker Albums to Real Impact
“I grew up in a period of time where kids used to collect all sorts of things – all I can recall was the fact that it was an album of sorts with stickers of F1 teams and drivers.” Something about the bold liveries stuck with him.
When he joined the RebelDot project, working closely with VCARB, the excitement was immediate. “I was super excited when I found out I was going to join the project.”
The spark wasn’t just professional. He reactivated his old F1 subscriptions and picked up simulations again.
Start with Discovery
Rareș describes his work as uncovering problems before thinking about solutions.
“I apply a lot of discovery thinking to unveil problems to be matched with suitable solutions… and I think we do this extremely well at RebelDot.”
Early workshops with VCARB’s IT teams helped surface pain points and slowdowns. His role?
“I help teams figure out what to build and why…
Small Fixes, Long View
Much of his focus has been on stabilizing tools already in place, while also scanning ahead, especially with the new 2026 FIA regulations.
“We’re constantly asking: how will these tools need to evolve?”
What matters most is that products solve real needs. “If they’re completing the journey, it means the product is doing its job: removing friction and solving a real need.”
Simple Tools, Steady Flow
Rareș is visual by nature. “A plain piece of paper… describes best how I work.”
His mornings are methodical — everything ready the night before, two snoozes. His soundtrack? “Moderat… not too hectic, but always pushing forward.”
The Team Behind the Car
One visit to VCARB’s office made it clear: “Everyone shares a greater common goal: to make the car go faster.” That shared purpose is what drives him.
“It’s not a necessarily place, it’s a mindset… That feeling of purpose and impact? That’s where I want to be.”
Loop by Loop
Asked which F1 circuit fits him best, his answer comes easy.
“I’m mostly drawn to Suzuka… The infinite loop resembles a lot of the work we do.”
What Winning Looks Like
“When we hear from the teams that the product or projects actually move the needle… that’s the real reward.” Even a small gain, he says, can change outcomes.
His advice to his past self?
“Start small but think big… never lose track of how these can contribute to the next victories or long-term innovation.”
And after a long planning session?
“Anything home-cooked is a big win…”
