Grundfos is a company that connects millions of people, being present in more than 60 countries, ensuring water access and leading the change within some of the world’s biggest agendas on water and energy. As a large enterprise, Grundfos wanted to scale up their development capabilities by getting onboard a technical partner which supports accelerating their digital development process, building together towards the vision of achieving positive global change.





The challenge
One of the challenges when it came to working with Grundfos was ensuring a cultural match between us, a company of 150+ people and them, one of roughly 20.000 people.
Nevertheless, (besides cultural fit) the technical aspect was also part of the challenges of this project. Although Siemens Mindsphere was a completely new technology to our engineers, that didn’t stop us from learning how to operate it and eventually embedding it into our vocabulary to deliver the same quality standards.

The strategy
The collaboration between RebelDot and Grundfos started in 2021 and is still going. Grundfos wanted to accelerate their digitalization process by scaling their development capabilities, getting onboard a close technical partner. We learned how to operate Siemens Mindsphere to develop a Cloud Monitoring app as well as other digital offerings to be integrated with large industrial systems. In total, in a span of 5 months, we scaled from 2 to 4 teams, allocating no less than 40+ developers to work on 4 different IoT projects.
The Grundfos team found us after undergoing a thorough selection process of first country, city and company. Out of multiple significantly larger and older software development companies, we eventually rose at the top of the shortlist, matching the competence level, flexibility, cost and beyond everything, culture that the Grundfos team was looking for.

What we did
Product development
Our collaboration started off as a close partnership meant to support Grundfos in boosting their digital strategy of developing multiple digital IoT offerings within all their four customer segments.
We worked on equal terms as the Grundfos internal teams, sometimes as a supplementary team, other times even as the main development team.
We kicked off the project by initially allocating a cross-functional product development team. Shortly after, we began building the second team and the third one, reaching a number of 42 engineers across self-sustained & self-managed product teams.
Scaling the partnership
In a span of 5 months, the Grundfos team scaled our collaboration from 2 to 4 teams working on 4 separate projects to continue delivering thriving digital solutions within the IoT ecosystem.
From creating a service portal where multiple IoT devices can be operated, to developing consumer native apps and digital offerings to be integrated with larger industrial systems, we embraced a new technology as part of our stack, Siemens Mindsphere, to create a top-notch IoT solution, aiding the digitalization process of Grundfos.
